Having a Thankful Heart Everyday!

So this is my FIRST blog post!! I’ve been brainstorming like crazy trying to figure out what I should write about for my first post. Anyways, I’ve decided to write on thankfulness with it being thanksgiving and all.

I was sitting down trying to think of what I thought thankfulness was; Thankfulness to me is to be happy and content for or with the things you have in your life. Whether its family, friends, coffee 😉 , good health, or the sunshine.

Does anybody else like to go through life complaining about the littlest things that “mess up” their day or about something that wasn’t in your plans?! I know I do, and I couldn’t really figure out why. Why go through life complaining about your situation? How will that help the situation? Why not just be thankful and happy instead of complaining and drowning in self pity?? What I’ve learned is that it doesn’t, we complain because it satisfies us. To sit in self pity and refuse to see ANY good in the situation.

I’ve come to some solutions that help to have a thankful heart every morning when I wake up!

• My first suggestion would be to write bible verses of thanksgiving down on a paper, your mirror, or anywhere you can see them first thing in the morning and read them when you wake up.

Psalm 95:2 – Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 – In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Psalm 69:3 – I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

• Second is mindset. Wake up and set your mind to it that you’re going to be thankful no matter what the day brings. I know how hard it can be, really. Here’s a little story for you all 😉

I woke up to a beautiful new day with the sun shining through the window. I set my mind to it that it was going to be a great day. I went to the kitchen to get breakfast and saw the pile of dishes that I needed to do, because I failed at doing them the night before. Then I went to take a shower, which ended up being cold, because all the hot water was used up. After that I decided to go make some fresh lemonade, while I was getting the sugar I banged my head on the corner of the cabinet and then while I was making the lemonade I dropped the fresh lemon juice all of the floor counter and myself. But none of those little irritating things ruined my day. I set my mind to it that it was going to be a good day, and nothing would change that. Instead I decided to focus on the blessings in my life – Even though my shower was cold, at least we had water. The pile of dishes showed that was had dinner and food on our table the night before. The sun shining through the window when I woke up, reminded me that God’s mercies are new everyday. I’m here to tell you not to focus on the “bad or “annoying” things in life, but to focus on the abundant blessings that flow through you life everyday.”

It’s just a little story that may even be silly, but it encouraged me to think about it. 🙂

• Third If you still aren’t feeling very thankful (guilty of this before) sit down, and make yourself write ten blessings or things that YOU are thankful for. Trust me, after making that list of ten things you start to realize and see all the blessings and how great every breath that you breath really is. Never take life for granted, be thankful and remember to praise God for all the blessings in your life not only today since its Thanksgiving, but everyday! Happy Thanksgiving y’all!

Blessings, Moriah ❤
